This is a complete entertainment package. It gives you just the time out you need from life. You go in there, laugh out really loud for 2 hours and then get back home. This time, Nick Kurt and Dale, instead of running to kill their bosses to get rid of them, look to become their own boss but as things are usually against them, everything becomes a little ugly yet again. The person who is supposed to buy their product isnt exactly the person they thought he would be and they are running against time to pay off the banks, etc rather than going back to their old jobs working under bosses. A simple story line with a simple twist to it. Only difference? Chris Pine. Really made a huge difference in the movie. His floater role leaves the audience thinking of what can really happen. He changed the scenario all on his own.
The movie had the right amount of adult humour at the right time which made it really good. There wasn't a lot of slapstick comedy but surely the jokes were a little lamer than the previous installment. Still, it was literally two hours of laughter in there, and it was very difficult to control your cheek bones. The dialogues and scenes just went hand in hand. Even the subtle use of names and companies/corporations to make jokes was a good idea which worked really well.
Chris Pine was the real show stopper. Known for more serious roles, mainly in Star Trek, he shows us a completely new Pine who we would love to watch again. His performance was better than all the cast combined and he has taken this opportunity perfectly to showcase his skills.
Christoph Waltz needed to do just what he does best. Be the man with the sinister plan. Not much expression needed. Just his creepy smile and mob boss kind of attitude worked well for him.
Jennifer Aniston again gives a "rousing" performance, just what is expected of her. Her choice of words were enough to send someone either into coma or heaven.
Jamie Foxx was the sneaky one in there and he was sure as hell scary for the three men looking for an advice.
Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis seemed to have fit into these roles perfectly. Bateman remains the brains of the gang, the serious one, something he is used to playing. Charlie gives the best performance of the three as he cannot stop talking, cannot stop being stupid and it's surely difficult to do that but he just slips into it perfectly. Sudeikis is used to playing the role of the ladies man in most of his movies and he just continues to do that well.
Kevin Spacey, despite a short performance, gives those big funny ones through his roles and keeps our stomach tingling every time he is on screen. His dialogues were the best ones in the movie.
Couple of scenes in the movie were just brilliant even though they were lame. The car chase and the slo-mo walk (yet again), to be precise. Good destinations for shooting of the film and fine cinematography. Nothing fancy, kept it simple.
Personally, everyone should watch it. You dont really need to watch the first movie to understand this one, though you might not understand the connection between the characters. It is a full on entertainer and it serves its purpose perfectly. Worth all the money and time.
