Hello!
Summer is setting in and this was the first book I picked up...and well, it was wonderful.
For all of you who like the infamous ‘P.S. I Love You’- well, this book is by the same author.
Cecelia Ahern is known for her unique ways with ‘letters’ or ‘love letters’. And this book is crafted in the form of letters, notes, cards, emails. It is a series of written conversations surrounding the life of two best friends, the kind of best friends that are meant to be forever.
You'd say it's your cliché, "Best Friends in Love", but what’s special in this one is our protagonist, Rosie and Alex, are never on the same page. Yes, they get married; yes, they have kids, only, not with each other. So what is it that finally gets them together?
Get to know the pains of teen pregnancy from Rosie Dunne. How sometimes, life makes you throw away your dreams. How you feel when you’re in a never ending maze, looking for the perfect ending. You learn how to settle where you are.
Find out from Alex how, even two weddings can be less to find the perfect soul mate, someone who sometimes may be right under your nose. Learn that sometimes courage is all it takes to set things right.
The best part? The friendship just never dies. And you'd wish you had a bond like Alex and Rosie.
On the downside, I'd say the book is a little too prolonged, running around the bush, somewhat monotonous. You get lost in the middle. But then again, the end makes up for it. After all, who doesn't like a happy ending?
Well, that's about it. All you non-readers can go check out the movie, but I'd suggest reading the book, because let's face it, aren't books always better? Two hours are never enough to tell a life story, but a good book sure can.
