And he's finally here!
Well, not exactly, but The Pilot; the first episode of The Flash; is aired 3 months before the official airing of the show. How? He's the Flash, so it had to come out really quick, right? One of the most beloved DC Comics Characters, The Flash has finally been brought to life in the 21st Century by Berlanti, Kriesberg and Johns on The CW Network. And they couldn't have done better.
Simple storyline, though not very much similar to the Comics. It has characters like Caitlyn, Iris, Detective Joe and Ramon from Comics alongside Dr. Wells and also the rumoured Professor Zoom in the form of a new Detective Police joining the force where Allen is the forensic Scientist. I think they have the recipe to a good show, and most definitely a very good story line.
But, but, but.
Here's the problem - you wouldn't understand half of The Pilot if you haven't watch 2 particular episodes of the 2nd season of Arrow. And obviously no one would understand those 2 episodes, because it is the god damn 2nd season. Trust me, I saw both the seasons of Arrow just because Flash is a spin-off from it. I'm not saying I regret it, because it was awesome. What I mean is, why couldn't they have created a separate show than a spin off? Not everyone wants to watch Arrow, right?
Coming back to The Pilot; Grant Gustin is a very promising actor and one who the girls would just call 'cute', thanks to his little baby face. Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes will form the duo that usually work behind a superhero and they seem to be cool, except for the communication between them. John Wesley Shipp, cast as Barry's father, is a great choice since he played Flash in the 1990 TV series. Rest of the cast seems to be fine, no comments yet. The most important thing is that they have good dialogues, which is very much required these days, especially in the comic universe.
A great watch for Comic and Flash lovers. An alright one for people who like mysteries and such TV shows but not one for people looking for pure entertainment when defined as comedy. Very promising; except that it is a spin-off.
Dialogues of the day: "It was quite a nap kid, but you still didn't outgrow that Baby face."
Run Barry Run :)
