Apologies for such a long gap since the last article. This one will contain my personal views about the game and some news on the international circuit.
My views on the Mind and its role in the game of tennis have come not only from reading articles and watching tennis matches, but also by playing them. In this article I'm going to express my views about the game from a view point of a tennis player.
I have been playing tennis for about 4 years now, roughly speaking. Like most other children, I took this sport up as a hobby as it was fun but in quite a short period of time I had learned the basics pretty well. According to me, tennis is a give and take game. Time, effort, dedication and priority are some of the things you have to give the sport in return for the results of your hard-work. The sport demands a certain amount of respect and discipline.
Tennis being mostly a ‘mind-game’ requires a great amount of focus and patience simultaneously. More than the playing part, the actual hard work lies in Fitness.
‘NO FITNESS = NO GAME’
Well that is surely true - every word of it.
Physical Fitness is one of the key factors that can be a game changer for you or your opponent depending on your fitness level. In Tennis, fitness does not only imply having a flat stomach or being able to run fast- it means that one must be agile, alert, focused and must be able to move around the court swiftly. A perfect example of that would be the current World No.1 Ranked player in the Men's Category - Rafael Nadal. His end of the year comeback was remarkable, which also let him regain the pole position.
With the Davis Cup in full action, Andy Murray and Colin Flemming helped Britain get a semi final spot which has not been got since 1981. The current champions and two time defending champs, Czech-Republic secured their spot in the Davis Cup Semi Finals.
The current World TOP 10 Men’s Rankings are as follows:
