"Don't laugh at a youth for his affectations; he is only trying on one face after another to find a face of his own."
~Logan Pearsall Smith, "Age and Death,"Afterthoughts, 1931
“My life is so hard! My mom doesn't understand my feelings! My boyfriend broke my heart! I WANT TO DIE! I AM A FAILURE! NOTHING'S RIGHT!”
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? It wouldn't be wrong to say that these are some of the most common phrases heard from teenagers these days. The life of a teen is practically the hardest, because at this time the teenager experiences so many changes in their life that it becomes confusing and life seems like a burden instead of the gift that it is.
The most common problem that we all see in a teen’s life is of their parents not being able to understand them. But to be honest, here, it’s no one’s fault! The child himself is so confused by what he wants in life, that it becomes hard to explain what his feelings are. And it’s not the parents' fault either, because they have no idea of what their child is going through. In this stage, even the smallest of problems become frustrating. For example, if I am having a bad day and am kind of frustrated, (y'know because of the usual problems), even missing the last 7:04 pm thane fast train might cause me a break down!
Hormones are all up in place during this time. We sometimes make stupid decisions like travelling in a Virar fast during rush hour, because we are that confused! (LOL)
Life is messy, it is dangerous, it is stressful, but it’s not solely our fault all the time. Sometimes it’s because of the negative environment we are surrounded by or the pressure we experience from our parents (which is normally unintentional) or the fear of getting bad grades and so on, and it just adds up to 'the burden of life'.
Problems like, not being able to go to that friend's party, or not being able to access the internet, not getting a single rose on rose day, or not being able to drive an activa/dio/whatever you drive (personal problem L ) , etc. might seem very stupid, but yes, it adds up to the daily stress so much that we might end up crying and cribbing about everything.
People might say that teenagers should not be this stressed and sometimes I do agree with them, because this is the age of having fun and living our lives, but (mostly in Mumbai), I feel sometimes even the slightest of changes that take place in our lives here make a lot of difference and because they all are very new to us, we kinda overreact to it.
But time (again, especially in Mumbai) waits for none, and so we have to keep moving and just slowly adjust to the new changes that we experience in our lives. And yes, I accept that teenage life here, especially in Mumbai, can be a bit overwhelming because of all the little problems but hey, life is a problem itself, it’s fulfillment relies on how you deal with it! It will take time, but I am sure everyone will be able to. Just understand that life is beautiful, then you can value it!
Be Happy, Be Positive!
Laugh, Love & Live your life..!
Peace
