Another Hard to Believe Biblical Story.
Indeed, it was just another dubious biblical tale. A fairly disappointing affair, the trailers and Christian Bale had really raised our hopes for this one. Of course, it’s biblical and hence, things are supposed to be Godly, but I think there needs to be a limit to these things. The second half of the movie was highly unbelievable and all the build-up was a poor attempt at greatness.
The movie has a good plot, the interesting kind that leaves you wanting more but the climaxes are just disappointing and do not support the story line at all.
Having said that, on a more a positive note, it was MUCH MUCH better than Noah. Noah was whole other level of terrible. The cinematography was good and I definitely loved all the locations chosen for filming. The desserts, river, mountains, all were just perfect and the cinematography just added perfectly to that. The pharaohs and the empires were shown beautifully. That was one amazing aspect of the film. It was very dear to the eye (the visuals team has done a really good job). The only vice here was that the movie lacked the physical intensity to add to those scenes in the end.
Christian Bale definitely led the line the way he was expected to. Getting his physique back for Moses, they couldn't have chosen a better actor for this role. Loved the way how he changed his voice at times rather than eating up words which he usually does. Good to see some variation like Batman.
Joel Edgerton had that evil vibe to him through the movie. He captures the audience with the intensity and depth of his character’s emotions taking us along on the journey from sorrow to rage. That shift in emotion was shown very well by him.
Aaron Paul, John Turturro, Ben Kingsley and all the other actors added well to the movie. They didn’t really leave anything to complain about and the casting seemed to be good throughout the film.
The dialogues were intense. They were as deep and thoughtful as they needed to be. The team did a good job writing the dialogues and the cast executed them well. The music suited the movie well, perfectly made by Alberto Igleasis.
Most of the aspects of this film were good except for its Godliness. The bible had to be followed and they obviously did that but thanks to that, the movie became pretty unconvincing which made it slightly disappointing. There isn't much to say about it otherwise. Good intensity and build up leading to nothing in the end. 3D was not really worth it. One can skip this one if he/she is uninterested in History.
