There are two things that I hate that occur in April. My birthday and the IPL. Okay, I don't mean to sound morbid but, birthdays are annoying, mostly because you cannot invite all of your friends as they do not know each other and it will be more awkward than when KRK gets his ass handed to him on Twitter. IPL, well that's just complete bull crap.
It's been a whole season of cricket lately, we apparently did pretty okay in the World Cup, doesn't really matter to me. In fact, I'm glad we lost, I hope that means that the "We won't give it back" ads will be given a rest.
Cricket is an essential part of all Indians lives even though it is NOT our national sport. From drunk uncles to dramatic mothers, from working fathers to rebellious teenagers, everybody loves their cricket.
Work comes to a grinding halt during important cricket matches, other than the already slow pace it was in previously. I do not like cricket mostly because it takes way too long. It's excessively slow and the amount of advertisements are preposterous. There are so many advertisements that I don't remember who the last batsman was but, I do know that Pankaj Kapur sure loves his 'Lays'.
IPL is the most pretentious series of cricket matches. There's an increased amount of enthusiasm amongst the women folk. Most of these women have a knowledge about cricket in the same manner as what I know I'm going to do with my life. Yes. They're utterly and completely clueless.
In order to identify these women you can ask them a standard question,
"Which team are you supporting in the World Cup?"
If the response you get is "Mumbai Indians" or something, don't clench your fist to punch them in the face. Unless, they say, "Kochin Tuskers" or something, then just punch them right on the nose.
Anyways, enjoy your cricket. I prefer Formula One and Tennis.
Some of you might love Virat, some might love Dhoni.
No matter whom you chose to love.
I will always lau Hugh.
